Frequently Asked Questions

What is an M-24 grade conveyor belt?

M-24 is a general purpose rubber cover grade with high abrasion and cut resistance. It is the most common belt for ore, stone, limestone, coal and other bulk materials at normal temperature.

What is the difference between M-24 and N-17 grade?

M-24 has higher tensile strength and better resistance to cuts and gouging than N-17, so it is preferred for heavy, sharp and abrasive material. N-17 suits lighter, less abrasive duties.

Can M-24 belts carry hot material?

No. For material above normal temperature use a heat resistant (HR/SHR) belt, and for cement clinker an ultra heat resistant (UHR) belt.

What is the tensile strength of an M-24 conveyor belt?

The M-24 rubber cover has a tensile strength of at least 24 MPa, elongation at break of at least 450% and abrasion loss of not more than 150 mm³. The strength of the whole belt comes from the EP or NN carcass rating, for example EP 400/3 or EP 630/4.

What is the temperature range of an M-24 belt?

M-24 grade belts are suitable for material up to about 60°C continuous. For hotter material choose a Heat Resistant (HR or SHR) or Ultra Heat Resistant (UHR) belt.

What cover thickness and ply should I choose for an M-24 belt?

As a guide: light, fine material 3-4 mm top and 1.5-2 mm bottom cover; medium lumps such as coal, limestone and clinker 5-6 mm top and 2-3 mm bottom; large, sharp lumps such as ore and boulders 6-10 mm top and 3 mm bottom. Plies and rating depend on conveyor length, capacity and pulley size, and we confirm them for every order.

How do I calculate the weight of an M-24 conveyor belt?

Belt weight depends on width, carcass rating and total cover thickness. Use the Conveyor Belt Weight Calculator on our website, or send us the specification and we will tell you the weight per metre and roll weight.

What widths are available in M-24 conveyor belts?

M-24 belts are supplied from 300 mm to 3200 mm wide, with cut or moulded edge, in EP or NN fabric. Popular sizes are kept in ready stock.
