Chemicals and Heat.
Fertiliser plants handle urea, DAP, SSP, MOP, rock phosphate and sulphur. Many of these are hygroscopic, some are acidic, and granules coming out of the dryer can still be warm. Coating oils used to stop caking can also attack ordinary rubber. The result: covers that swell, crack or peel far earlier than expected.

Points to Consider
Tell us the chemical composition, the temperature at the belt, and whether any anti-caking oil is used. If both heat and oil are present, choose our oil & heat resistant (ORHR) belt. For plain heat, the heat resistant belt is enough. We will suggest the most economical grade that gives reliable service.
Keep belts clean during long shutdowns – fertiliser left on a stationary belt absorbs moisture and damages the cover faster than normal running.
