Coal looks soft but it is a demanding material for a belt. Run-of-mine coal comes with shale and stone, lumps fall from height at transfer points, and fine coal dust gets into every idler. A coal conveyor belt must resist cuts and wear, and in closed areas it must also be safe against fire.
Our Recommendations
- Open cast mines and crushers: M-24 grade belt or SAR grade belt with a thick top cover (6–8 mm) for impact and cuts
- Coal washeries: M-24 grade with good resistance to water and fines
- Coal handling plants (CHP) and bunker feeding: fire resistant (FR) belt
- Steep or inclined conveyors: chevron belt
- Tramp iron removal: cleated magnetic separator belt

How to Get More Life From a Coal Belt
Most coal belts fail early because of damage at the loading point, not because of normal wear. Use impact beds or impact idlers under the chute, keep the drop height low, and check scrapers regularly so that coal does not build up on return idlers. If your belts are failing too often, send us photos of the damage and the conveyor details and we will suggest what to change.
