A conveyor belt is only as strong as its joint. We supply cold vulcanizing cement (belt jointing solution) with hardener, made by established manufacturers, for splicing and repairing rubber conveyor belts on site without a hot press.

The same solution is used for M-24 grade belts, heat resistant belts, SAR grade belts and fire resistant belts, and also for pulley lagging and rubber tank lining.

Cold Vulcanizing Method – Step by Step

1. Buff the joint area and remove all dust, oil, grease and moisture. The surface must be completely dry.
2. Stir the solution well and mix the hardener in the ratio 100 : 6 until uniform.
3. Apply the first coat with a brush on both surfaces and let it dry fully.
4. Apply a second thin coat and allow 15–20 minutes until it is touch-dry. Support the joint area on a flat wooden board or MS plate.
5. Bring both surfaces together carefully, starting from one end so that no air is trapped.
6. Hammer the joint firmly with a wooden or rubber mallet from the centre outwards.
7. Let the belt rest for at least one hour before putting it back into service.

The complete job should be finished within 4–6 hours of mixing, and ideally done by a trained splicing person. For heat resistant belts the same method is followed using a heat resistant grade solution.

Tips for a Long-Lasting Joint

• Do not work in rain or high humidity; moisture weakens the bond
• Use fresh solution – check the batch date
• Keep step lengths as per the number of plies in the belt
• Protect the finished joint from load until the rest time is over
